Out of the Park

"We may have had a hard first year, but we've had a heck of a first anniversary." I said as I lay my head on M's chest, reflecting over the last year.

That's right, folks.
We hit this one out of the park!

Har, har...

By the way, for anyone who cares, I am totally a week late here. Our anniversary was last Monday, not today. I'm just late with the blog, but what else is new, right?

We got married 09.06.09.

09.06.10 started with the breakfast of champions... 1 year old cake and peach champagne. We apparently have a little tradition around here of celebrating important days with dessert.

I was honestly excited about freeing up the freezer space this cake has been taking up! I had it wrapped in plastic, then aluminum foil, then ziploc bags (which, as you can see, one of the ziploc bags was a casualty of the ice maker!)

The cake was in pretty decent shape, considering it's been a year, and it has been through a road trip and a move.
Of course, we drank champagne out of the same glasses we drank out of at the wedding, hand painted by myself. And, of course, we drank our Peach Passion Andre'. We first had this champagne on a Valentine's Day date a few years ago when we were dating. It was served at an art gallery, and we loved it, so we've had it, a'hem, a few times. :)

Let's remember the original cake experience...
Aaahhhh.... the cupcakes were so fun!
Back to our anniversary morning. The cake was pretty good! It was A LOT of icing, so we were pretty much Diabetic when we finished, but it was a lot of fun to partake in the tradition.

We headed out to watch the Nats play the Mets at Nationals Stadium. We've been wanting to do this all Summer, so this was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary!
We had great seats.
We ate Five Guys.
We watched the big headed dead Presidents race.

We wore our Nats hats.It was an awesome afternoon. What a Happy Anniversary!!

Congratulations on your 1st anniversary! Love that you've shared it with all of us! Looks like you had a blast - good for you! May your 2nd year of marriage be off the charts (in a good way, of course!) and may God bless BOTH of you in this life together. You are my heroes!

And thanks for all your blog posts! I haven't been able to keep up as much lately, but I love going back through and finding out all you've been up to!
